Week Two: Meetings- Tea Party

Week Two: Meeting:
When asked to research a form of meeting, I decided to delve into something close to my heart.. tea.

Tea is an aromatic beverage commonly prepared by pouring hot or boiling water over cured leaves of the tea plant, and is often shared between friends or family as they meet for catch up's. Tea originated in China as a medicinal drink during the 16th century, In the 17th Century it became more popular and began to spread exponentially though out different cultures. Each culture adopted its own flavors of tea as well as means of serving and consuming it, however there is a uniformity between cultures, tea is often used as a facilitator to social gatherings.

It is considered customary good manners for a host to offer tea to guests soon after their arrival. Tea is generally consumed at home; outside the home in cafés. Afternoon tea with cakes on fine porcelain is  sometimes available in quaint tea-houses or when people decide to host "Tea Party".

I would like to design a white, calming space with candles, fairly lights, a roaring stone fire and several stone pots with delicious teas brewing away. A place for friends and family to meet, unwind and spend quality time with one another.

The art of tea is in the meeting between the hot water and the tea itself, the length of that meeting determines how strong the tea is, and is tailored to the person consuming it. Other components such as milk, sugar, cream etc can be added to this meeting to further benefit the overall experience.
