Week Four Project

Week Four Project: Tree House
Meeting/ Atea: Between friends, kids.
A place for grown ups to meet with their child self.

For my project this week I've decided to create a boat shed into somewhat of a tree house/club house/ safe haven where kids can hang out, play and establish a club away from pesky grown ups. A meeting between friends is all to familiar when we were kids. Through researching tree houses i found that interestingly, people in some countries don’t see tree houses as exotic, but as every-day parts of their lives. In New Guinea, for example, the Korowai people live in tree houses permanently. The raised homes help protect their food and belongings from animals and floods by keeping everything above ground level. I want to encapsulate childhood memories and also create a space where grown ups can meet with their more carefree, naive child self.
My space is designed for young friends to meet and also those who seek to realize some of their greatest childhood dreams and are looking for a unique way to recharge and relax.

Some unique features of my space..
Mirrored walls so it is almost invisible and perfect for hiding, which means that unless you are invited or a member of the club you will not enter.
Swing attached to bottom which swings over harbor.
Hammocks and cushions for sleepovers.
Activities such as games, puppet show space, telescope for spying on the people below, arts and crafts.
Wooden ledges on the tree so that its possible to climb right to the top.
Three levels each representing a different stage of childhood and what was important at each stage e.g: Pre-school/ Kindie - Sand pit, play dough, dolls, slingshots, furbie, dress ups
Primary School: Scoobies, arts and craft, knuckle bones, hop scotch, slide etc.
Tween: Movies, makeup, cards, board games,
